Interview by KTAR Radio

Recently, I was on KTAR Radio to talk about some of the unique customer requests we have had over the years! At Pampered Pets & Plants, Inc. we strive to mimic the same

routine that customers have for their pets and we will go above and beyond the call of duty for any pet at any time! We have turned pheasant eggs, milked a goat, turned on the Lassie show for a dog who actually watched Lassie daily, cared for pet tarantulas, played classical music to lure cats out of their hiding spot so they could be fed and medicated, hand fed apple chunks to a pig, took a 5 foot iguana out to get his daily dose of sunshine and put sunscreen on a Schnauzers nose to prevent sun burning.

August Promotion

During the month of August, for every 10 visits you book, the 11th visit will be free. Just use the promo code AUG10 on the online reservation request form.

"Adopt Me"

Minchi.jpg

Minchi is an energetic little minpin chihuahua mix who doesn't know she needs open heart surgery to correct a mitral valve that is stuck open in her little heart. Minchi is a ladies dog who will frolick with other dogs and she loves to get belly

rubs! She prefers her kids 12 and older please, and while she is kennel trained, she prefers to be sleeping ON you! She happily comes when called (usually) and likes to snuggle while her human snoozes or reads a book. Minchi would like an active family to walk often and another dog to play with. Are you that family?

Minchi is spayed, up to date on her shots, micro chipped, heartworm tested and on monthly preventative - and ready to adopt her forever humans.

If you would like Minchi to join your family, please fill out an Adoption Application

Is Clay Cat Litter Safe?

Many years ago, the only cat litter was clumping clay litter. Today, there are so many cat litters on the market it will make your paws pause! Upon doing some research, I found that sodium bentonite is what makes clay cat litter clump. Sodium bentonite acts like an expandable cement, which is why they caution you on flushing it down the toilet.

Cats and kittens routinely groom their feet after using the litter box, ingesting the clay litter. The clay litter will expand inside the cat just as it will with plumbing. Once it is inside your cat's intestines it could extract fluid out of the body, resulting in dehydration, possible urinary tract problems, yeast infections, etc.

Your cat is inhaling the clay cat litter dust, as are you. Clay particles when broken down contain silica dust. Silica dust has been implicated as a cause of lung cancer and other respiratory diseases not only in cats but in humans, too. Consequently, folks with asthma or other respiratory issues could be unknowingly compounding their problem.

We all want to be healthy and we want our pets to be healthy, too. There are cat litters available today that are made from natural sources like wheat, cedar, pine, and corn. Read your labels and know what you are buying. Your feline friend will thank you!

Dixie Needs Help

Dixie.jpg

This sweet and scared 6 pound girl's name is Dixie... At only 8 months old, she was already unwanted and on the kill list at Maricopa County Pound in Phoenix. Rescued by Golden Bone Rescue & Rehab, Dixie's spay

sutures from the shelter ruptured and Dixie had to be rushed into emergency surgery by one of our volunteers. She said her insides were literally falling out.

The vets said Dixie must have been suffering like that for a few days. The bill is mounting to about $900 now and we have so many new rescues to spay and neuter this month.

Can you please help us keep these pups healthy and adoptable and alive? Please make a donation, of any amount to Golden Bone Rescue & Rehab Inc.
